Beirut is a no-frills Lebanese restaurant next door to Thai and opposite Hotel Kazakhstan. Appetisers include all the classics; different types of hummus, moutabbal, cheese rikakat, spinach fatayer, Oriental sambousas and more; main courses are mostly lamb and chicken, interspersed with doorstop-sized steaks. There is also a range of seafood for the less carniverously-inclined, in simple, tasty sauces like lemon butter and tomato. The backdrop isn't bad, either, with orange tones and Arabic chandeliers, the smell of shisha pipes and soothing Middle Eastern music setting a sumptuous scene.
